Returning to Growth: Private Equity in Emerging Markets

Consensus is growing that we are nearing a recovery in emerging markets private equity and despite a difficult start to 2009, most emerging markets economies have weathered the crisis intact - some are in fact leading the global recovery. Developed markets' private equity has been savaged by the drying up of credit, as private equity buyouts are significantly leverage-based. Emerging market private equity deals, however, have not traditionally relied on debt, so the collapse of the global leveraged finance markets has not significantly impeded deal making.

Moreover, emerging economies are still showing signs of growth and LPs investing in these markets are retaining a positive outlook for new EM PE investment opportunities. During the industry’s largest and most comprehensive conference, we will be examining emerging market opportunities in this new financial world order and identifying which markets and sectors present the most compelling investment thesis and merit increased focus as well as explaining how investors can best position themselves to maximize returns.

An Annual Event for the Emerging Markets Private Equity Industry’s Most Important Players!

Last year’s conference was a tremendous success with more than 650 private equity professionals in attendance from more than 55 countries around the world. As a result of the growing interest in emerging markets from LPs and GPs alike, we expect to see a similar number of high quality delegates in Washington, D.C. this year.

As always, a premium will be placed on networking opportunities and delegates will be able to interact with each other and with moderators, speakers and sponsors throughout the event as well as during lunches and the cocktail receptions held on May 11th and 12th.

Who Do We Expect to Attend?

  • Institutional investors and leading LPs: including international finance institutions, public pension funds, and private investors
  • Senior investment professionals from GPs around the world: including chief investment officers, directors and other senior investment officers interested in emerging markets
  • Other key industry players: including private equity attorneys, accountants, advisors, and consultants focused on emerging markets
Qualified Limited Partners Attend for Free*!

*Institutional investors and limited partners from foundations, endowments and public and private pension funds will be invited to attend the conference on a complimentary basis, and will also be invited to attend EMPEA’s signature LP-only breakfast on May 12th. Please do not make any travel arrangements until your qualification for this complimentary pass has been approved.
